Goulbourn Hornets Major Atom Girls Win 2017 Stacey Dales Invitational!

The Goulbourn Hornets Major Atom Girls had a stellar weekend in Brockville as they won gold at the annual Stacey Dales Tournament.
 
The Hornets defeated Ottawa Next Level 36-32 in overtime in a hard-fought, back and forth game in the final. The Hornets held the lead for much of the game, but ONL managed to tie the game in the final minute. The Hornets played with composure and thanks to some clutch foul shooting and timely baskets were able to come away with gold.
 
Goulbourn opened the tournament with a tough 35-29 loss to the host Brockville Blazers, but came back later in the day with a solid 39-28 win over Ottawa Next Level setting them up for a semi-final match-up against the Blazers.
 
The Hornets had a tough start to the semi-final trailing the Blazers by ten at one point, but a solid second half performance allowed Goulbourn to claw their way back and win 36-33 to earn a trip to the final.
 
The Hornets will look to add to its hardware collection in a couple weeks as they take part in the Mike O’Connor Memorial Tournament in Gloucester.
