Our free West Ottawa Basketball skills clinics continue this month with a focus on ball handling. This free clinic is open to players currently registered in our recreational program and competitive program.. 

A. LORNE CASSIDY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - PLAYERS BORN 2012 - 2016
Players will work on foundational dribbling skills through a number of fun games. Athletes will improve their ability to dribble with each hand while being closely defended. Players will work on their stance, dribbling with their eyes up, using a crossover dribble and learning how to protect the ball while keeping their dribble alive. Fun props like pool noodles, scarves and tennis balls will be used to teach while making it fun. Players will also play small-sided games such as 3v3 and 4v4 to enable them to practice dribbling in game-like situations.

10:30 a.m. - 1200 p.m. - PLAYERS BORN 2005 - 2011
Players will work on foundational and progressive dribbling skills. Athletes will learn how to create a 1 on 1 advantage using dribbles like the crossover, glide, in and out and hesitation. Players will work on protecting the ball with a retreat dribble and will play small-sided games such as 3v3 and 4v4 to practice dribbling in game-like situations. 

Mark Emond will be leading the clinic. Mark is West Ottawa’s VP of Competitive, Coach and Player Development, the Head Coach of our Girls U16 Competitive Team and was the Head Coach of Ottawa’s Girls team at the last Ontario Summer Games.
